The "XDS Cup" 16th Tour of Hainan 2025 ,held for the first time in April, will officially kick off on April 7 in Qionghai, Hainan. This UCI 2.Pro-level event consists of five stages over five days, covering a total distance of 854.64 kilometers. The race route traverses from tropical rainforests to golden coastlines, showcasing the latest achievements of Hainan's free trade port construction and the scenic beauty of the island's circumnavigation highway and tropical rainforest national park tourist roads. Riders will experience various terrains, including flat roads, hills, mountains, and coastal routes, immersing themselves in Hainan's unique natural and cultural landscapes. The competition has attracted 20 teams from around the world, with approximately 140 riders participating.
Stage 1: "Sunrimoon" Qionghai - Qionghai
On April 7, the first stage covers a distance of 90.34 kilometers, the shortest stage of the race, featuring a flat road route. The stage includes an intermediate sprint at 16.9 kilometers and a Category 4 climb at 30.2 kilometers. The race starts and ends at the Qionghai Government Square, passing through Boao.

Stage 2: "Peak Sport" Qionghai - Wanning - Lingshui**
On April 8, the second stage is also a flat road stage, spanning 178.1 kilometers. Starting from the Qionghai Government Square in Jiaji Town, the race passes through Wanning and ends in Lingshui. This stage includes two intermediate sprints (at 23.5 kilometers and 124 kilometers) and a Category 2 climb (at 136 kilometers with a slope of 5.9%).

Stage 3: Lingshui - Qiongzhong - Wuzhishan - Baoting
On April 9, the third stage is a mountainous stage, known as the queen stage, covering 212.6 kilometers. It features three climbs (a Category 2 climb at 55 kilometers, and Category 3 climbs at 74.8 kilometers and 97.8 kilometers) and a Category 1 climb at 161.9 kilometers (the Atuoling climb, 7.1 kilometers long with a slope of 5.2%, reaching an elevation of 785 meters). The stage concludes at the Baoting Moon Leisure Square.

Stage 4: Baoting - Sanya - Ledong - Dongfang
On April 10, the fourth stage spans 190.8 kilometers, starting from the Baoting Moon Leisure Square. The route passes through the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park tourist road and includes three climbs (a Category 1 climb at 25 kilometers, and Category 3 climbs at 39.1 kilometers and 47.4 kilometers) and two intermediate sprints (at 74.7 kilometers and 93.4 kilometers). The stage ends at the Dongfang Cultural Square.

Stage 5: "Samassi 3D-Printed" Dongfang - Ledong - Sanya
On April 11, the final stage covers 182.8 kilometers, starting from the Dongfang Cultural Square. The race follows the coastline to Sanya, featuring two intermediate sprints (at 92 kilometers and 122.3 kilometers). The finish line is located at the Intersection of Xinfeng Street in Sanya, marking the final sprint for the riders.

This year's race offers a total prize of $150,000, attracting 20 teams from around the world with about 140 riders. The participating teams include one WorldTour team, four professional teams, and 15 continental teams.
As the only WorldTour team, the XDS Astana team, infused with Chinese bicycle brand elements, is making its debut in China, drawing widespread attention.

On December 13, 2024, XDS announced a strategic investment in the Astana team, forming the "XDS Astana" team. This partnership not only represents a breakthrough for Chinese brands in top-level international race but also marks China's manufacturing sector stepping onto the global stage with greater strength. Through this collaboration, XDS's bicycle technology combines with Astana's competitive experience, providing the team with enhanced combat power and offering Chinese cyclists the opportunity to compete alongside world-class racers.

For this Tour, the XDS Astana team brings strong riders, including last year's overall champion Aaron Gate from New Zealand and Henok Mulueberhan, winner of the Tour of the Lake. Additionally, young Chinese rider Haoyu Su will make his appearance, and sprinter Matteo Malucelli will strive for victory in sprint competitions. The first stage's host city, Qionghai, is located in the eastern part of Hainan Province, renowned as the "Cultural Town," "Overseas Chinese Town," and "Civilized Town." It is the legendary hometown of the Red Detachment of Women, the permanent venue of the Boao Forum for Asia, and famous for being the "Hot Spring Town of China." Qionghai combines natural landscapes of mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas with cultural attractions, making it a charming tourist destination in China.

The "XDS Cup" 16th Tour of Hainan2025 is co-hosted by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Hainan Provincial People's Government. It is organized by the Chinese Cycling Association, the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Film and Sports, the Sanya Municipal People's Government, the Qionghai Municipal People's Government, the Dongfang Municipal People's Government, the Lingshui Li Autonomous County People's Government, and the Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County People's Government. The event is co-organized by the Wuzhishan Municipal People's Government, the Wanning Municipal People's Government, the Ledong Li Autonomous County People's Government, the Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County People's Government, the Hainan Sports Lottery Management Center, and the Hainan Sports Event Center. The Hainan Radio and Television Media Group Co., Ltd. and the Hainan Island International Road Cycling Race Co., Ltd. are responsible for the operation of the event.
